Destination Weddings in St. Remy

Get married in the dazzling town of St. Remy de Provence with its infinitely rich historical heritage. Surrounded by lush green perfumed valleys and lavender fields, Saint Remy is one of the "must-sees" in Provence. It is a dreamy place whose old town and living traditions remain as unspoiled as the villages around it. As soon as you arrive in Saint Remy you won't want to leave!

You will fall instantly under the spell of the setting, atmosphere, and charm of St. Remy. The vast, immense beauty of the countryside and the quality of light has inspired many artists, writers and painters. Without a doubt, the most famous was Vincent Van Gogh who produced more than 150 paintings of the surrounding countryside.  Walk in the places he painted and discover his mountain of St Remy, his fields of wheat and poppies, olive trees and cypresses - all just as it was more than a century ago. Imagine your wedding ceremony in St. Remy de Provence against the backdrop of a Van Gogh painting!

Saint Remy de Provence is a fascinating historic village built on one of the oldest archeological sites in Europe. Just at the entrance to town you will marvel at the remains of the prosperous Gallo-Roman City have been uncovered on the site of the Comptoir de Glanum which was founded in the 3rd century BC, before control passed to the Romans under Julius Cesar.   These ruins have seen the passing of several civilizations and you can visit the Grands Thermes, the long residential avenue, the temple and the natural spring of a true gallo-roman city, dating from 30 to 10 years before Christ. Two important monuments are visible next to the site: l'Arc de Triomphe and the Mausolée des Antiques, and not to be missed the Archeological museum located in the residence of the de Sade family.

You will find that this small, dynamic city has kept its traditions and personality. The festive events: arts and craft markets, the bull fights and other bull related events, the sheep migrating festival, the horse fair, concerts, exhibitions, and festivals give rhythm to the town and will help you get acquainted with the local customs.

So if you love history, art or charming boutiques, you will feel quite at home in Saint Remy. The beautiful residences on the outskirts of the village and the shady cafes of La Place Jean-Jaurés not only attract tourists but celebrities as well. Far from the crowds of the Cote d'Azur, artists and movie stars are known to seek refuge here, where they can appreciate the unhurried pace of life.

St. Remy's opulent countryside with the ever-present scent of lavender hanging in the air will make your marriage an unsurpassable splendid success. The quintessential Provençal cuisine with its tasty and harmonious combinations of fresh vegetables, fish, herbs and spices will thrill you and your guests.
