Destination Weddings in Mulhouse

Marry in Mulhouse, Alsace a lovely city located in the northern foothills of the Sungdau area.  Mulhouse has many attractive features including the rich heritage as an independent republic, its prestigious museums and strong industrial traditions.

This town’s passion for independence began in the 12th century onwards where it strove to liberate itself from its feudal bonds and in 1308 it acquired the status of an imperial city.  It later joined with other imperial cities, a league of defense against the power of nobility called Decapolis.

In this town there are many industrial museums such as the National Automobile museum, Musee Francais du Chemin de fer, and Musee de Impression sur etoffes.

The Old town hall was erected in 1552 by an architect from Basle.  It has a kind of renaissance characteristic style of the Rhine region and on the outside it was decorated by artists from Constance area, the edifice is unique in France.  The Temple of St. Etienne is a neo-gothic building retaining several 14th century stained glass windows of the previous church’s demolition in 1858, this is said to be the finest in Alsace.

A fun activity for your wedding guests could be a trip to the Zoo and Botanical Park south of the town centre that covers an area of 62 acres and shelters more than 1000 animals.  Its aim is to preserve breeds, study, rare and endangered species and cooperate with other zoos.  The botanical collection is also superb consisting of an array of rare species in beautiful landscape areas.
