Destination Weddings in Louviers

Celebrate your wedding in Louviers, Normandy.  Set in a green valley, on the banks of the Eure River and surrounded by wooded hills this charming town is located at the threshold of Normandy just over an hour from Paris.

Originally Louviers was a villa belonging to the dukes of Normandy.  Possession of the villa was passed to the archbishops of Rouen by Richard the Lionhearted in 1197 in exchange for Château-Gaillard.  Louviers became the property of Charles VII during the Hundred Years War.  However, it was the textile industry, which has been strong here since the 13th century that is responsible for much of the wealth of Louviers.

The centre of Louviers situated on the left bank of the Eure has retained all its charm!  Narrow cobblestone streets like the rue Ternaux lined with half-timbered houses and home to a convent built between 1640 and 1660 will give you plenty of ideas for romantic photographs. The Eglise Notre Dame will impress you with its flamboyant Gothic style.  You will discover many other remarkable buildings whose prestigious construction attests to the town’s rich history.

You will enjoy your wedding and reception in Louviers.   The numerous branches of the Eure running through Louviers provide endless backdrops for romantic strolls as do the public gardens inaugurated in 1927, home to sequoias, well-tended lawns and extensive flower beds.

Once home of dukes, archbishops and kings, Louviers is a special setting for your destination wedding in Normandy.
