The reservoirs of the Rocher des Doms were dug out in the second half of the 19th century, creating four big rooms 40m long and 6.5 m wide and 7 m high, which were used as reservoirs to stock Avignon's drinking water. Profiting from the super setting, they rooms were renovated for their current use in 1990.
